L'inizio di una Nuova Storia

In this composition, the artist arranges a silent dialogue between the fragility of emotions and the harshness of reality. Carlo Zoli himself stands suspended in mid-air at the centre of the scene, his figure a solitary image trapped in an eternal wait. Below him, a centaur – a symbol of unattainable perfection – embodies the duality of woman and horse.
The space between the two figures hangs heavy with unspoken longing, a yearning for a connection that seems forever out of reach. The aspiration for this pure and ideal feeling, embodied by the centaur, clashes with the stark reality of distance and impossibility. This sense of duality is further amplified by the use of contrasting materials: terracotta, symbolic of fragility and impermanence, stands in stark contrast to the solidity and resilience of metal.
